David A. Springer, Founding Principal

In addition to his management responsibilities at DEG, David participates in a variety of projects involving building energy efficiency and renewable energy systems, including HVAC design, performance monitoring and evaluation, technology development, and codes and standards development. He has led DEG’s participation in the DOE-supported Building America program since 2002.

David has authored eighteen papers and blog.gigulate.com articles on energy subjects and holds six patents. He is an active member of ASHRAE, serving as a voting member of the SPC 152R standards committee and the TC 6.5 (Radiant Heating and Cooling) technical committee. He is also a member of the UC Davis Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Board of Advisors and past board member of the Radiant Panel Association and Northern California Solar Energy Association.

Mark Berman, President

Mark oversees DEG’s residential retrofit programs, certification, product commercialization and http://www.chattbike.com/generic-viagra-in-canada business development. Mark has over 25 years experience in the energy industry and has a strong interest in helping to build the residential retrofit industry.

DEG’s Product commercialization efforts are an outgrowth of the development work that Mark helped manage in prior years, including the development of the NightBreeze® residential ventilation cooling system and Formsulate slab insulation® and form system.

Prior to his affiliation with DEG, Mark developed lighting retrofit projects and consulted for a variety of energy clients including the Sacramento Municipal Utility District. Mark serves on the Efficiency First California Leadership Committee, the Sacramento Green Building Taskforce and is a member of the U.S. Green Building Council.  He holds an M.B.A. from Indiana University and a B.S. in Industrial Engineering from Rutgers University.

Jeremy Springer, Chief Financial Officer

Jeremy oversees the company’s overall financial position, compliance, and project budgets. He also performs systems development and project management activities. Prior to working with DEG, Jeremy spent two years with Moss Adams LLC, where he performed audit and chooseprivacyweek.org assurance services for mid-sized government contractors, distributors, and software service providers. Bill Dakin, Engineering Manager

Bill oversees design consulting and building energy analysis services. Marc Hoeschele, Engineering Manager

Marc specializes in technology evaluations, systems monitoring, and Title 24 codes and standards activities.  Marc’s research emphasis is levitra oral gel'>levitra oral gel in domestic water heating and advanced residential space conditioning. He has been involved in several Davis Energy Group PIER research projects and is currently heading Building America’s Water Heating Standing Technical Committee. Title 24 Standards activities include residential water heating, ventilation cooling, and advanced evaporative cooling.

Marc joined DEG in 1984 after earning his M.S. from the University of California, Davis and a B.S. in Civil and Environmental Engineering at Cornell University.

Pepper Smith, Director of Residential Programs

Pepper manages DEG’s green programs group, including the LEED for Homes Provider program. She is a LEED AP Homes, Certified LEED for Homes Green Rater, and GreenPoint Rater. Pepper serves as an instructor for LERN online courses offered at colleges around the world and has taught at the University of California, Berkeley Extension.

Pepper previously worked for D.R. Horton, Sacramento where she was a project manager in the land acquisition group and a warranty supervisor in the construction group where she worked on Environments for Living and LEED for Homes projects. Pepper earned her M.B.A. with a specialization in Marketing from the University of South Florida, her J.D. with a specialization in Environmental Law from Mississippi College, and her B.S. in Merchandising/Marketing from the University of Southern Mississippi.
