Mark Berman

Mark Berman is a Principal of Davis Energy Group and serves as Vice President of Product Development and Commercialization. Mark has over twenty-five years experience in the energy industry. He is responsible for management of DEG’s role as Provider in California and Nevada of the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED for Homes Pilot Program. In addition he manages the development of advanced cooling and heating products as well as their commercialization through DEG’s sister company, Advanced Energy Corp.
Products under development include HyPak, an advanced rooftop HVAC system for commercial buildings that provides increased ventilation air and enhanced indoor air quality while cutting energy consumption in half; SunCache, a solar thermal hot water pre-heater; Formsulate, a combined form system and edge insulation system for slabs; and FIZE, a combined PV and solar thermal device. Now available is NightBreeze, a breakthrough home comfort system for new construction that sustainably ventilates, cools, heats and conditions a house, enhancing indoor air quality while slashing energy use and peak demand.
Prior to his affiliation with DEG, Mark developed lighting retrofit projects and consulted on various energy matters and projects for clients including the Sacramento Municipal Utility District. Mark also co-founded and ran an oil and gas exploration company in West Texas that drilled 27 wells between 1980 and 1986.
Education
Mark earned a Master of Business Administration at Indiana University and a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from Rutgers University. Both degrees were conferred with honors.
