Steve Brennan

Steve Brennan, PE, CEM, CBCP, was hired by GM Ovonic (now Texaco Ovonic Battery Systems), a joint venture between General Motors and the Ovonic Battery Company, where he worked for 4 and a half years as an applications engineer. His duties included assisting customers in the integration of Nickel Metal Hydride batteries into their electric vehicles and stationary photovoltaic applications, and the development of electronic monitoring and control systems. Since joining DEG in the summer of 2001, Steve has been actively involved in many monitoring projects investigating advanced residential HVAC and DHW systems, laboratory testing of prototype appliances and commercial HVAC equipment, Title 24 and Title 20 Standards language proposals, teaching contractors about compressorless cooling technologies, and bringing a ventilation cooling technology to market. He received his Professional Engineer license in 2004, and his Energy Management and Building Commissioning Professional certifications in 2006. In 2007 he began studying to become a LEED accredited professional and will be managing DEG’s commissioning and auditing activities.

Education


Steve received his B.S. in civil engineering and his M.S. in mechanical engineering from California State University, Chico in 1994 and 1996 respectively. During his last three years at CSU, Chico, he was involved the university’s Hybrid Electric Vehicle project as a team leader at first and later as project co-director.
