Design Consulting / Energy Analysis

Over the years, DEG has completed hundreds of mechanical design projects for the commercial, light industrial, institutional, and residential sectors. DEG has special expertise in residential design with energy efficient HVAC systems, geothermal heat pump systems, hydronic heating, and evaporative cooling. The group also provides consulting on electrical designs, including lighting, electrical equipment, controls, and alternate power generation. DEG can provide full-service project development by performing complete energy analyses, providing compliance documents, designing mechanical systems, evaluating electrical systems, coordinating design consultants, managing construction, and commissioning.

DEG works with clients to determine building performance and energy efficiency measures. Services include modeling the performance of building designs and energy efficiency measures and establishing compliance with California Title 24 and other government regulations.

For many years, DEG has worked with architects, engineers, power providers, and government agencies, providing comprehensive analyses of energy technologies and products, both in actual application and through simulation. Expertise with a variety of software programs and field-testing tools assists clients in measuring the effectiveness of various technologies and products. DEG can adapt purchased programs to fit specific needs or develop proprietary software as needed. The group supports all findings with complete documentation and can provide presentations and demonstrations as well.

DEG maintains resource listings of recycled building products, and can suggest environmentally responsible design features and provide lifecycle costing of "green" building product alternatives within the scope of design services.
