Gish Apartments was one of the original 10 applicants in the LEED for Homes Pilot Program in California. Gish is a transit-oriented development consisting of 35 family apartment units – 9 efficiencies, 14 two-bedrooms, and 12 three bedrooms; a 3,775 square foot 7-Eleven and a small retail store on the ground floor. There is associated parking on the ground floor and below grade. It was built on a .41 acre infill site that was a former Brownfield and is located along First Street corridor and a light rail station in San Jose. The units are leased to low-income tenants with income levels ranging from 30 to 50 percent of the area median income.
