AEP

Advanced Energy Products Corp. (AEP), a California corporation, is a spin-off of Davis Energy Group. DEG develops low energy cooling and heating systems for residential and commercial buildings with funding support from government and private sources. AEP is commercializing these proprietary products under an exclusive licensing agreement with DEG.

AEP’s products enhance indoor air quality, improve health and comfort, reduce energy consumption and costs, and help achieve green building certification. AEP is positioned to take advantage of increasing demand for energy efficient heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems by offering cutting edge, high efficiency products.

AEP’s target markets include homebuilders, HVAC contractors, commercial building developers, designers and owners, as well as energy service companies and original equipment manufacturers. AEP will outsource manufacturing to established manufacturers with excess capacity.

AEP’s goal is to be the superior industry supplier of environmental and energy efficient HVAC equipment.

Initial Products

NightBreeze integrates automatic, optimal outdoor air ventilation with a residential cooling and heating system. The technology uses proprietary algorithms to determine the optimal amount of cool, nighttime ventilation air to introduce into a house and when to do so, allowing it to cut cooling energy use up to 60%. Two versions are available: NightBreeze-Hydronic, which is integrated with a hydronic (hot water) coil to provide heating, and NightBreeze-GasFurnace, which uses a gas furnace with a variable speed blower to provide heating.

HyPak is a revolutionary rooftop packaged unit (RTU) designed to condition commercial office, retail and institutional buildings. In the U.S., over half of commercial floor space is conditioned by RTUs. HyPak offers twice the energy efficiency of conventional RTUs, and also provides up to 100% outdoor air for ventilation. This is very significant because indoor air quality varies directly with the amount of ventilation air provided. Typically, increasing the amount of ventilation air increases the energy used for cooling and heating. With HyPak, the reverse is true, with energy reductions of as much as 50% with concurrent ventilation air increases. HyPak is now in advanced prototype testing.

SunCache is a low-cost residential solar water heater that is nearing production and market introduction. It is an Integral Collector/Storage (ICS) type solar water heating system. SunCache is available in two configurations: glazed and unglazed. SunCache is made mostly from plastics (although all potable water is contained in copper) with high-quality stainless steel mounting equipment. It is designed to be sold as a kit including all plumbing and installation hardware to lower installation cost and ensure that all code requirements are met. The installers have only to provide piping. SunCache will be the only system approved for installation with PEX tubing, reducing installation cost and improving freeze-resistance over copper piping. Installation is simple, fast and reliable. Installers with basic plumbing and construction experience can be trained in one day. SunCache is made entirely in California.
